Drum Charters
Drum is a favorite by all locals to catch and visitors to our area are blown away by their size it’s that one huge inshore fish everybody love to catch. Drum are one of the first fish to show up to get the season started. We have Black Drum and Red Drum.
When they first show up we we fish for them near the Chesapeake Bay bridge tunnel.
Black Drum are extremely large fish, a bit larger than the Reds.
Strategies we use for Drum
When we first start fishing for them we will use Blue Crab as bait and other crab species with larger weights on the bottom and wait for the right tides to move.
We have good luck during the daylight hours but it seems the nighttime bite produces more fish.
As the season continues, the Red Drum will school up in large numbers and can easily be seen on the surface, it looks like a huge patch of golden water moving across the ocean.
Sight fishing for them out of the tower on our boat is extremely productive, we have a variety of different bucktails lures we have that work like a charm
